Regional Health Care Information Systems
Follows is a brief outline of a number of key services we have provided to the health care system:
Intrasys provided a complete outsourced service with overall responsibility for Information Technology and Telecommunications Strategic Planning and implementation services. Intrasys managed projects from development, and installation through to post live support and maintenance for a tri-facility health care enterprise. Comprising, 8 plus sites, 333 beds, $110 million corporate and $1.5 million I.S annual operating budgets. Over 1500 users, 1500 + devices, fully integrated Hospital Information System (administrative, clinical and financial applications) interfaced to Diagnostic Imaging, Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) through high speed Wide Area Network (WAN) and VPN to over 60 remote users.
Provision of consulting services for a client’s Health Care Information Technology Team formed to liaise and collaborate with architects, patient care teams and senior managers to plan and prepare for future heath care delivery systems identified in 5-year corporate strategic plan. Includes, all hardware and desktop software applications utilizing proven technologies through an enterprise wide converged network for voice, data and video.
Key consultants on Information Management Team supporting strategic initiatives to implement a complete fully integrated Patient Centric Electronic Medical Record across the enterprise, including data protection, security, disaster recovery, policy and procedures.
Overall responsibility for design and implementation of single Enterprise Health Care Information System for multi-facility organization utilizing single database, including migration from redundant legacy systems.
Responsibility for Telecommunication Strategy Development and project management across multiple facilities, up to and including converged networks to for voice, video and data applications.
Planning and implementation of Wide-Area Network designed to achieve full integration between Health Care Information System and complete modality Diagnostic Imaging Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS). Interim project aimed to provide foundation f or migration to a fully converged voice, data and multimedia network, a critical element for move to new single site hospital within Sarnia. Key components; redundant paths, fail over, scalability and manageability, IS/PACS interfaces, WAN voice integration and associated cost savings, migration path for data storage, enterprise data backup and technology integration. All completed with limited capital budget funding.
Deployment of Storage Area Network (SAN) technology for both Health Care Information System and desktop PC applications, with scalability for eventual migration of PACS image and data storage (7Tb’s).
Out sourced services for first phase completion of user PC desktop upgrades designed to replace aging technologies (800 terminals and 100 term servers), includes thin client component and software management tools for network and desktop management leading to reduced TCO, achieved through higher productivity gains for I.S technicians without increase to staffing levels.
Full implementation (all departments) of a Staffing and Scheduling software application, interfacing to payroll, nursing acuity, and financial systems. Comprising 60 Union and non-Union departments across three hospitals and involving over 1800 employees.
Implementation of pilot Wireless Point-of-Care Data Collection project for rural community hospital, continuing care. Connected via CKLAG (Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative Group) Community WAN.
Provision of consulting services for client participating Southwest Ontario Telehealth Network (SWOT-N) Videoconferencing project for Renal Dialysis program, comprising, utilization of Lambton Hospitals WAN, and Smart Systems for Health (SSH) Network and Federal CHIP funding. Over 20 participating hospitals.
